SINN Féin MEP Martina Anderson met the European Parliament’s lead negotiator on Brexit today as part of Sinn Féin’s campaign to secure designated special status for the north within the EU.
Speaking from Brussels, Martina Anderson said:
“I had a very positive meeting today with the European Parliament’s chief negotiator on Brexit, Guy Verhofstadt, in Brussels.
“We discussed the last week’s election, and the huge concern right across society over the prospect of Brexit and its disastrous impact for the island of Ireland.
“This meeting is part of Sinn Féin’s ongoing diplomatic offensive to secure designated special status for the north within the EU.
“Sinn Féin will continue to meet Guy Verhofstadt and others in the European institutions to garner support to ensure the democratic decision of the majority of people in the north is recognised through designated special status.”
