A DERRY group is one of a number across the North which is sharing in £172,307 from the National Lottery.

Through Big Lottery Fund’s Celebrate programme a total of 43 groups are using grants of £500 to £5,000 to run their own events or activities that allow people to celebrate what makes their local community special.

Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership provides support and assistance to a range of organisations.

They have received a £5,000 grant for a family fun day for local people to celebrate 70 years of the Creggan community.

Joanne McDowell, Big Lottery Fund NI Director, said: “Today’s Big Lottery Fund grants celebrate what’s special about individual communities across Northern Ireland and I want to say thanks to all the National Lottery players who have helped make these projects possible.

“From celebration events to cultural activities and fun days, these events are bringing people together to volunteer, have fun and meet more people in their area.”
