TOMORROW night’s replay SSE Airtricity Premier Division match between Derry City and Limerick City at Maginn has been postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Candy Stripes captain Ryan McBride.
The club’s next match away to Drogheda Utd on Saturday, March 25 has also been postponed.
The FAI has confirmed that tomorrow night’s EA Sports Cup first round match between Finn Harps and Cockhill Celtic in Ballybofey has been postponed as a mark of respect following the sad passing of Derry City captain Ryan McBride.
A statement from Finn Harps FC has paid tribute to the Derry City captain, who passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday evening at the age of 27.
“Finn Harps FC wishes to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Derry City captain Ryan McBride, whose sad and sudden passing at just 27 years of age has left the soccer community in the Northwest and across the country in shock at the devastating news of the loss of a true leader on the field and a gentleman off it.
“The thoughts of everyone at Finn Harps are with Ryan McBride’s family and friends, the Derry City management and players and all at our neighbouring League of Ireland Premier Division Club at this enormously difficult time.”
A date for the rescheduled fixture between Finn Harps and Cockhill Celtic will be announced in due course.
