DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a fire at a vacant house in Co Derry in the early hours of this morning.
The attack happened at a property in Limavady’s Sperrin Road.
Detective Sergeant Wallace said: “ Police received a report of the fire shortly after 3am this morning.
“The house was well ablaze upon the arrival of emergency services a short time later, and a number of nearby residents were evacuated from their homes whilst Fire Service personnel dealt with the fire.
“The house was left completely gutted and an adjoining house suffered smoke damage.
“We are treating this incident as arson at this stage and an investigation is underway.
“I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact detectives in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference number 70 21/03/17.
“Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
