DERRY and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership Chairman Cllr Gus Hastings has condemned this week’s shootings of two male in Creggan and Glenowen.
Last night a man was shot in both legs in a paramilitary style shooting in a laneway at Glenowen Park.
On Monday night, a young man was shot in a bookmakers shop in the Creggan in front of a number of children.
Detectives investigating the bookies shooting arrested a 31-year-old man in Derry this morning under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.
Speaking on the incident Councillor Hastings stated: “These attacks should be rightly condemned by all members of our community.
“The attacks on members of our community cannot and should not be justified.
“The people who carried out the attacks showed no concern for the people living in these areas and no matter what rationale is put forward these actions have no place in our society.”
