MAKE YOUR MIND UP TIME FOR TORIES AND DUP ON POWERSHARING – O’NEILL

SINN Féin leader in the north Michelle O’Neill said today the Tories and the DUP have choices to make, either they want to form an effective power-sharing Executive based on equality and respect or they don’t.

Michelle O’Neill was speaking after a series of meetings with other party leaders.

She said: “We did a number of meetings over the course of the day with other party leaders.

“Sinn Féin remains focussed on the implementation of previous agreements and restoring public confidence in the political institutions.

“The British government and the DUP have choices to make, either they want to form an effective power sharing Executive based on equality and respect or they don’t.

“Theresa May’s announcement of an election is more about the Tory party’s self interest.

“She has shown a blatant disregard for the people of the North once again.

“Sinn Féin is ready to fight this election. We will go out and engage with the public who voted in the majority to stay in the European Union.

“This election is not about Orange and Green, it is about Brexit and opposition to the Tory party’s policies.

“We will stand up for all the people. We will stand up for the needs of the economy and we make the case for designated special status in Europe.”
