Lisfannon Strand at Fahan, near Buncrana, which is popular with Derry beach lovers.

IT HAS emerged that a number of emergency services attended an incident on Lisfannon Beach outside Buncrana last night.

Locals feared a major incident was taking place after a large amount of sirens from response vehicles were spotted on the beach around 10pm.

Gardai have confirmed they attended the scene and a woman, believed to be from Derry, did receive medical treatment.

She was conveyed to Letterkenny University Hospital for further examination by doctors.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public after reporting a vehicle on the beach.

However, no further comment is being made on the situation today.
