AN armed checkpoint in Donegal overnight has been described as “routine” by Gardai.
The checkpoint, which was set up at Kilross Junction in Stranorlar, was operated by four detectives and uniformed officers.
Uniformed Gardai stopped motorists to ask them their names and addresses.
However, a Garda spokesman said the checkpoint did not relate to any specific incident.
The spokesman said the checkpoint was most likely part of security measures now being operated along the border.
Stranorlar is about 20 minutes from the border with Strabane.
