SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed the recommendation to provide £80,000 towards design costs for a new community centre for the Hazelbank/Ballymagroarty areas.
Cllr McGinley said: “A recommendation will be put forward to Council that £80,000 is committed towards the design costs for a new state of the art community centre on the Ringfort Road.
“This is a significant step forward for a project which will bring an investment of over £1.5 million into the area and provide much needed facilities for thousands of families.
“The Ballymagroarty Hazelbank Community Partnership is currently leading on consultations with residents on what services should be provided and how the new facility will look and the design costs will greatly assist in this process.
“This funding is a very positive step forward for the Hazelbank and Ballymagroarty communities.”
