SINN Féin’ Eric McGinley has welcomed Council’s Health & Communities Service Delivery Plan.
Cllr. McGinley said: “The work of the Health & Communities Committee covers a wide range of important areas including community development, health protection, leisure provision and community safety.
“In the context of community development council is making significant progress towards the delivery of 6 new community buildings across the district including a brand new facility for the Ballymagroarty / Hazelbank area.
“The committee also oversees the work of officers who have responsibility for ensuring the food we eat, the water we drink and even the air we breathe is of the highest quality.
“The council’s leisure services section ensures we have top class facilities which can deliver a comprehensive list of programmes designed to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of all our citizens.
“The Policing & Community Safety Partnership is also instrumental in assisting with the delivery of initiatives which make residents safer in their homes and on our streets.
“The Health & Communities Committee has a key role in the delivery of the Service Plan and I would encourage all our citizens to be aware and make use of the services which are in place to benefit all our citizens.”
