DETECTIVES are questioning a 29-year-old man who was arrested in Derry last night on suspicion of hijacking a vehicle.
Police said the man was arrested in the Groarty Road area of the city.
He is also suspected of having been involved in an attempted robbery earlier today.
The suspect is being held at the PACE custody suite at Strand Road police station in Derry.
It is understood the arrest was made following an incident earlier on Saturday evening when a female driver was threatened at knifepoint and her car hijacked.
The incident took place in the car park at Springtown Shopping Centre around 6pm.
The hijacker was described as clean-shaven, around 5’ 7 tall and was wearing a baseball cap and black hoodie.
The car was last seen heading towards the city centre.
