MINUTE’S SILENCE HELD IN DERRY FOR MANCHESTER BOMB VICTIMS

MAYOR of Derry and Strabane District Council Hilary McClintock has held a minute’s silence in Derry for the victims of the Manchester bomb on Monday night.

The minute’s silence was held at 11 am in the Guildhall Square.

A total of 22 people were killed by suicide bomber Salman Abedi when detonated a device at the Ariana Grande concert in the Manchester Arena.

Searches are ongoing today in Manchester with the bomb disposal squad are currently at Linby Street, Hulme in the city.

Residents have been moved back from the scene.

However, following an examination of the scene, Greater Manchester Police say Linby Street operation is now over and a cordon has now been lifted.

A total of eight people are currently in custody in Manchester.

One woman has been released and ruled out of police inquiries.

A number of Salman Abedi’s relatives have been arrested in Libya as part of the ongoing investigation.
