ST Brigid’s Primary School, one of the winning schools in the Derry City and Strabane District Council recycled wood design competition pictured with their winning design, which was installed in their school this week.
The competition was an initiative designed by council to promote recycling and encourage children’s participation in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Schools were given the opportunity to choose a category to base their design that incorporated elements of STEM following in the wood recycling project which was funded by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
The winning schools – St Brigid’s Primary and Ardstraw Jubilee Primary School then attended workshops at the 4RS Resource Centre to watch their installations being built before their installation.
