NOT for the first time have the brave volunteers of the Foyle Search and Rescue gone into action to help save a person’s life.
That’s exactly what happened last night when the alarm was raised by the police that someone was spotted in the cold waters of the River Foyle.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the voluntary organisation said: “At 19:02 hrs on Sunday 11/6/2017 the Police Service of Northern Ireland activated FSR’s Emergency Response Team to reports of a person having entered the water.
“Mobile and two Boat Crews responded to the reported location. On arrival a female was observed in the water.
“FSRs ERT Co-ordinator & NIFRS on land had thrown a line to the female. Boat crews commenced a rescue bringing the female on board proceeding to FSR Base in Prehen.
“The female was then transferred to an Ambulance & taken to hospital. PSNI were also in attendance & ERT crews along with Second response Teams were stood down.”
Well done to FSR yet again.
