PSNI ADVICE ON HOW TO PROTECT SHEDS AND GARAGES FROM THIEVES

June 14, 2017

POLICE have issued advice to the public in Derry about securing their sheds and garages against thieves.

The external buildings are rich pickings for thieves if they are not locked.

The PSNI’s Crime Prevention advice is as follows:

Consider fitting some external lights to make your garden less inviting to thieves

Keep sheds in good condition, as well as any padlocks and grilles

Why not invest in an alarm?

Consider chaining large items together to make it more difficult for thieves to remove them

Take note of serial numbers and take photographs of experience site equipment

Lock leaders to a secure fixture in the shed or garage so you’re not helping thieves access the upper floors of your house

Lastly, look out for any suspicious activity and report to Police on 101.
