REPUBLIC of Ireland international James McClean has returned home to where it all began for him a decade ago.
The Creggan-born footballer was back in to launch the Foyle Cup and inspire the next generation of young footballers.
The 28-year-old was playing Foyle Cup football less than 10 years ago.
Now, he is a Premiership star with West Bromich Albion and an established international.
Around 345 teams competing when it kicks off on Monday, July 17.
For McClean, after Sunday’s draw with Austria, the real thing could be just four games away.
But he knows the Foyle Cup could set other young footballers on the right path.
“They’ve got the stage – a lot of scouts come and watch these games.
“So I would just say don’t go and waste it. Give it everything you have.”
