THE PSNI in Derry will out tomorrow as part of an awareness operation against those drivers who park their cars and block pavements to others.
It is a recurring problem in streets across the city which force pedestrians, mothers with prams and blind people, to walk on the main road to get round badly parked cars.
Police in the city will be handling out leaflets seeking the public’s view on the pavement parking problem.
PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “Have you any thoughts on #PavementParking?
“Many of us do it without thinking and without meaning to do any harm.
“We don’t stop to consider the obstacle it poses for blind people, partially sighted people or vulnerable older people.
“Foyleside and Moor Neighbourhood Team have been working with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (@RNIBNorthernIreland), @GuideDogsNI and the @CedarFoundation.
“We have put together an Operation in the City Centre tomorrow where we will be handing out these leaflets and chatting to motorists.
“I’d be interested to get your feedback on problem areas in the City. . . #ResponsibleParking#PavementsAreForPeople #KeepingPeopleSafe
