NEW safety measures are to be introduced on a road in Derry.
Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue said the news was announced by Conor Loughrey, TransportNI’s Western Divisional Roads Manager at a meeting of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Environment and Regeneration Committee this week.
The implementation of traffic calming on the Lone Moor Road will take place later this year in an effort to improve road safety and motoring in the Bogside, Brandywell.
Councillor Patricia Logue said: “Last year I welcomed the news that the section of Lone Moor Road in the vicinity of the Showgrounds area had been deemed suitable for traffic calming measures.
“Lone Moor Road was assessed for traffic calming during 2016 and as a result was placed at number one in Transport NI priority list.
“It good news that Transport NI have now said that the work will be carried out before the end of this year,” she added.
