DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit probing an under vehicle improvised explosive device placed under the car of a serving police officer in Derry two years ago have released a 30 year old man unconditionally.
The suspect was detained this morning under section 41 of the Terrorism Act but police have given no details as to where the arrest was made.
He was taken to the serious crime suite at Musgrave PSNI station in Belfast for questioning about the murder bid on June 18, 2015.
The officer’s wife, who is also a serving police woman, disturbed a dissident republican trying to put the device under their car which was parked in the driveway of their home in Eglinton just outside Derry.
One man is currently on remanded accused of trying to kill the police officer after he was allegedly linked to the bomb bid by forensics.
