FOYLE Search and Rescue had another busy month in July with 33 people owing their thanks to the volunteers who patrol the river and river bank paths trying to keep vulnerable people safe.
In a statement, FSR said: “Our Duty Teams & ERT (Pager Team) dealt with a total of 33 Incidents during the month of July.
“Two persons lives were saved by being rescued from the River.
“Twelve persons were removed from the Railings or Rivers edge.
“And 19 persons who were in distress were dealt with & immediately removed to a place of Safety.
“Foyle Search & Rescue volunteers carry out duties on Thursday, Friday & Saturday Nights.
“They are supported by an Emergency Response Team who remain on call 365 days of the year.
“FSRs teams maintain the Charities main aim of the Preservation of life via prevention, intervention & post vention.
“Conducting Patrols & providing Awareness via presentations to varied Groups in and outside of our local community as we have done for over 24 years.
“FSR would like to thank the public and our Community for the support shown to us via fundraising on our behalf and via letters,cards, social media & kind remarks passed to our volunteers when out on duty.
“Lastly thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers who carry out there fundraising & duties with professionalism, dignity & dedication week in week out.”
