A FITTING mural was unveiled this afternoon in the Brandywell to former Derry City captain Ryan McBride.
It was unveiled as part of ‘A Day for Ryan McBride’ held in the area in conjunction with the Gasyard Feile 2017.
The event was organised to celebrate the life of Derry City’s ‘Captain Courageous’.
Ryan died in March his aged just 27.
He lived at the family home in the shadow of the Brandywell.
A spokesperson Ryan McBride’s family said: “Five months since the death of our Ryan, he is sorely missed by us all.
“We want to thank Féile 2017 for giving us the opportunity to remember Ryan in this way with children and young people playing football on the streets of the Brandywell just like he did as he was growing up.
“The event ties in with the aims and objectives of The Ryan McBride Foundation which was set up following his passing.
“The foundation aims to assist young people, help them achieve and inspire them to reach their goals.”
