A COMMEMORATION took place on Saturday afternoon at the Republican monument on the Racecourse Road in Shantallow to remember IRA Volunteer Eamonn “Bronco “Bradley who was shot and killed by the British Army 35 years ago.
He was shot by members of the Royal Anglican Regiment shortly after leaving Shantallow House with friends.
The new Sinn Féin MP for Foyle Elisha McCallion gave an oration reflecting on the life of Eamonn Bradley ,his role within the Republican movement in the Shantallow area and his murder by the British Army.
Leona Barnfield laid a wreath on behalf of the Bradley/ Heaney committee, Gerry Mc Cartney laid a wreath on behalf of the republican movement; Martin Connelly laid a wreath on behalf of Sinn Féin
Bobby Sheerin then presented a representative of the family with flowers to mark the anniversary.
And Martin McGilloway made a presentation on the behalf of the Bradley /Heaney committee.
Proceedings ended with Peter McDonnell addressing the crowd with words of thanks for those who attended the event and for the support they had received over the years and Sarah Griffin singing Amhrán na bhFiann.
