SINN Féin Education spokesperson Councillor Colly Kelly has urged motorists to show due care and attention as the local schools return after the holidays.
Councillor Kelly said: “With schools in Derry returning after the summer holidays I would urge motorists to show extra due car and attention on the roads particularly in built-up areas.
“The volume and speed of traffic travelling through all areas in our city has increased over the last few years.
“There will be an increase of children out on about walking to school, using bus stops and local shops, and it will take motorists a few days to get adjusted.
