A NORTH of Ireland furniture chain has announced that it is to close all its stores including one in Derry.
The announcement comes after a week after a sit-in protest was held at one of its Belfast stores.
Seven days ago, around a dozen customers staged a sit-in at DQF’s Connswater store, claiming to have been owed money over undelivered furniture.
Along with its Derry store on Strand Road, DQF has two retail outlets in Belfast and a head office in Newry.
It is expected there will be job losses at the Derry and two Belfast stores but DQF have not said how many will be affected by it calls a restructuring of its business.
In the statement released on Friday evening and posted on its Facebook page, DQF said: “It is with great regret that DQF has made the difficult decision to close our retail stores.
“Due to range of factors, despite our best efforts, continuing with our current business model of selling directly to customers through our retail stores is no longer a viable option.
“The company is undergoing a period of restructure and we thank you for your patience at this time.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused.
“We are currently in the process of contacting all customers that have outstanding orders and refunds.
“In the meantime, please contact us via email to info@dqfsofas.co.uk where we will arrange a call back.”
