Councillor Logue said “I have been dealing with a number of complaints about late applications being processed.
“Pupils award are not being backdated and this is putting stress on very vulnerable families.
“Schools should be able to provide food for pupils and be reimbursed when the application is accessed.
“I have contacted the Chief Executive of the Education Authority to raise concerns that children in Derry are missing out on free school meals due to late applications,” she added.
