DERRY man Eamon Bradley will not face a third trial over charges linked to terror-related offences in Syria.
The decision not to have a jury was sworn in for a retrial was made by Barra McGrory QC, the outgoing director of the Public Prosecution Service.
It follows two hung juries, the first in Derry and mostly recently in Omagh Crown Court after an 11 day trial before Crown Court Judge Brian Sherrard.
As a result of the PPS decision, the charges have now been “left on the books in the usual terms”.
This means that they cannot be proceeded with again “without the leave of the Crown Court or the Court of Appeal”.
Bradley, 28, of Melrose Gardens in the Creggan, had always denied travelling to Syria to become a fighter with the Mujahedin.
