ALL schools in Derry have been advised to close on Monday over fears of the impact of Hurricane Ophelia.
The Department of Education has announced that “all schools should close tomorrow (Monday 16 October) as precautionary measure in light of weather warnings.”
An amber weather warning for wind had been issued for the North of Ireland as tail end of the hurricane sweeps in from the south..
Winds gusting up to 80 mph are expected to batter the North of Ireland from mid afternoon.
Schools may alert parents by text alert if their schools in Derry will be following Department of Education advice.
