GREATER Shantallow Community Arts (GSCA) were busy today making the final preparations for this year’s massive Halloween carnival celebration.
It has been all hands on deck as the group work on Space Wagons, Unicorns, Space Walkers and other amazing props for this year’s parade through the city centre.
Halloween carnival and Communities United co-ordinator at GSCA, Irena Noonan said:
“It is great to see the participation, enthusiasm and support of people of all ages and right across the Greater Shantallow area ahead of this year’s Halloween parade.
“So many people have spent months planning costumes and participating in workshops, making props and rehearsing routines.”
Greater Shantallow Community Arts has created a psychedelic theme running through this year’s collection of weird and wonderful props and Irena added: “It has been brilliant to see the locally produced props take shape and evolve into what is the finished product.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to say a very special thanks to everyone involved in, and who have supported, this fantastic project.
“Special thanks to all the community groups taking part, especially those involved through Communities United. They have all done such a wonderful job – and we’re so lucky to have them.
“We’re also so excited to be completing our props – and to bring colour and spectacle to what I hope will be the best ever Halloween parade that our city has seen.”
