POLICE SEIZE ‘DEATH TRAP’ CAR CAUSING NUISANCE TO RESIDENTS IN HAZELBANK AND GALLIAGH

POLICE have thanked the public for alerting them to a car involved in “anti-social driving” last night in Derry.

PSNI Foyle said on its Facebook page: “Thanks for the many reports regarding anti social driving last night.

“Efforts were made to locate and seize the vehicle reported as making a nuisance of itself around the Hazelbank and Galliagh areas of our City.

“Ballyarnett NPT took up the search for this vehicle this morning and with the support of the local community have now seized the death trap and removed it from our roads.

“It was described locally as a fast hitting V6 yoke but I can confirm that it was not so fast when leaving the area on the back of a recovery truck.

“Due to the manner of the sale and how it was registered the owner will have a hard job trying to get it back.

“Thought he could hide it by simply removing the plates!!!!!.

“Again to the public spirited citizens (you know who you are) thanks.

” I have no doubt the vehicle was seized prior to causing more problems and being burnt out with total disregard for other road users.

“One male youth is to be reported to the PPS for motoring offences however given this update if statements are forthcoming police will be able to progress further as we have a definite line of enquiry.”
