POLICE in Derry say offices have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with a serious assault on a woman in at the weekend.
The PSNI say that shortly before 5.25am on Saturday police responded to a report of a disturbance in the Carnhill area.
A woman, aged in her 20’s, is said to have sustained sustained injuries to her head and face after she had been assaulted by a number of males.
Paramedics arrived and took her to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment.
As part of follow up inquiries a 16-year-old male was arrested under the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act.
He is currently in custody at Strand Road police station being quizzed over the attack.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward and contact officers on the 101 number..
