ULSTER Bank is pulling the shutters down on two of its branches in Co Derry.
Draperstown and Dugiven will close along with nine other branches across the North of Ireland next summer, due to the increasing demand for online banking.
A total of 40 jobs will be lost as a result of the planned closures, with the bank stating that it is “committed to managing this on a voluntary basis”.
Customers of the branches affected will be informed in writing of alternative branch locations in their area, and other services available online, via telephone, and in post offices.
“We are also communicating directly with staff in those affected branches,” Sean Murphy, Managing Director of Personal Banking at Ulster Bank in Northern Ireland, said.
“Closing a branch is never an easy decision and one we do not take lightly.
“Recognising that customers expect different services from their bank, we continue to invest in a range of channels to improve access in a sustainable way.”
He added: “Ulster Bank still has Northern Ireland’s only Bank on Wheels service, with new stops being added.”
