For the past few years, the Forum has supported the Mayor’s Charity during its panto season, collecting donations from customers at various collection points in Front of House throughout December.
Last year, the Forum donated £4,500 to the Alzheimer’s Society.
David McLaughlin, Chief Executive of the Millennium Forum, said:
“We decided some time ago that we would support the Mayor’s Charity throughout our panto season.
“Christmas is often a very difficult time for many of our customers and Aware NI works tirelessly to support those who struggle with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues, particularly during this time of year.
“We are privileged to be supporting such a worthy cause.”
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Maolíosa McHugh, commented:
“I would like to say a special thanks to the Millennium Forum for holding collections every Christmas panto season for the Mayor’s chosen charity.
“Indeed, the Millennium Forum helps to collect thousands of pounds in donations every Christmas – which is testament to the generosity of its customers and the people of Derry and wider North West.
“I know that my own chosen charity – the mental health support group, AWARE – is delighted with the Forum’s support this year in helping to raise much needed funds to increase awareness and understanding of depression, bipolar and other associated mental health illnesses which have touched the lives of so many individuals and families across our City and District.”
Jack & the Beanstalk, proudly sponsored by the Richmond Centre, opens at the Millennium Forum on Friday 1st December and runs until Sunday 31st December.
