CROSS BORDER DRINK DRIVE CHECKPOINTS NETTED NO DRIVERS UNDER THE INFLUENCE

PSNI Maydown Road Policing carrying out checkpoints in the early hours of this morning for possible drink drivers

COULD it be a sign of the times?

Or is it too optimistic to think that the ‘don’t drink and drive’ message is finally hitting home?

Checkpoints by the PSNI and Garda Traffic Corps along the Derry/Donegal border in the early hours of this morning detected no drivers under the influence of alcohol.

The PSNI say that officers carried out “further cross border cooperation between Maydown Road Policing our Garda Traffic Corps colleagues early this morning as part of the drink drive campaign.”

A PSNI Foyle spokesperson added: “Authorised breath test checkpoints conducted on both sides of the border at Buncrana Road.

“Thankfully all tests were clear.

“NEVER EVER DRINK AND DRIVE!”
