POLICE have charged an 18 year old male with a number of motoring offences following a crash in Derry last night which left a female in hospital.
The teenager has been charged with causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly when unfit, causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly with excess alcohol and driving when unfit through drink or drug.
He is expected to appear Derry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Friday, December 22, for a first remand hearing..
As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The charges are in connection with a serious road traffic collision on the Clooney Road last night.
A female, aged in her 20s and who was a passenger in the car, remains in Altnagelvin hospital receiving treatment.
The road remained closed overnight until this afternoon when it was reopened after the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit carried out a forensic examination of the scene.
