A TEENAGE male is due in court this morning charged with a number of motoring offences following a crash in Derry last night which left a female in hospital.
The 18-year-old has been charged with causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly when unfit, causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly with excess alcohol and driving when unfit through drink or drug.
He will faced Derry Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing..
As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The charges are in connection with a serious road traffic collision on the Clooney Road on Wednesday night.
A female, aged in her 20s and who was a passenger in the car, remains in Altnagelvin hospital receiving treatment.
The road remained closed overnight on Wednesday until Thursday afternoon when it was reopened after the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit carried out a detailed forensic examination of the scene.
