THE Met Office has issued a yellow warning for icy weather across Derry today.
It is valid from 4 pm on Tuesday, December 26.
Forecasters said icy patches can be expected to develop on untreated surfaces, pavements and cycle paths and where showers wash off treatment.
They warned: “Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces may occur.”
It comes amid rain and snow warnings across the UK.
The chief forecaster said: “Showers of rain, sleet and snow are expected overnight, with snow most likely inland away from immediate coastal areas and over hills.
“The extent of ice will vary across the area with inland areas most prone whilst coastal areas exposed to the northerly winds are less likely to be affected.
“One or two centimetres of snow may accumulate above about 100m with temporary deposits at lower levels, mainly late in the night.”
The ice warning is valid until 11 am on Wednesday, December 27.
