‘Living Vintage’ will be displaying their private collection of authentic wedding dresses and mother of the bride outfits with accessories in a fashion show extravaganza as a fundraiser in aid of Queen’s University Cancer Medical Research.
This unique bridal show is a fantastic insight into fashion in the 1940-50’s and will include some wedding dresses from the Strabane area from as far back as the 1930’s. Before the show you will have the opportunity to taste some scrumptious delights in an ‘afternoon tea’ event, filled with beautiful homemade sandwiches, scones, sweets and treats – and of course a glass of bubbly!
Living Vintage have successfully been touring Ireland for over 12 years with recent shows at The Grand Opera House, Belfast and O’Reilly Hall in Dublin.
They are also looking forward to bringing the show back to Strabane where they had a very warm welcome two years ago.
Living Vintage models will be ‘putting on the style’ and showing off a magnificent collection of some of the most stylish haute couture wedding outfits of the 1940’s and 50’s in an atmosphere filled with fun and nostalgia.
Passionately curated by sisters Bridget and Marian, Living Vintage is a not-for-profit organisation which raises monies for good causes.
They are delighted to be invited back this year by the Alley Theatre Management to help raise much needed funds for Cancer Research.
Bridget said: “Living Vintage evenings are great fun, with lots of engagement with the audience. The evenings we run are a chance for people to travel back in time through the medium of costume.
“We are really proud of our collection of authentic 1940’s and 50’s bridal fashion.
“All the outfits are accessorised with the appropriate vintage hats, gloves, bags, jewellery and of course, seamed stockings.
“Indeed, attention to detail is absolutely everything!”
Bridget and Marian’s sparkling script is sprinkled with a great knowledge and social history of the 1940’s and 50’s. Marian will share some of her experiences in trying to get married herself… with no journey to the altar ever easy!
