A TEENAGER who touched the hearts of thousands has lost her five year battle to the ravages of cancer.
Claudy teen Alexandra ‘Ya Ya’ Johnston passed away yesterday morning in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children surrounded by her loving family.
She had bravely tried to fight of the Ewings Sarcoma Cancer since 2013.
Her sad passing has prompted an outpouring of messages on her Facebook page, from people saying how much she was loved, and how much she would be missed.

Matthew O’Dochartaigh posted on her page: “I know we weren’t as close as I wish we could’ve been, but you’ve made such an impact on my life for always being the first to text me and ask what was wrong.
“I loved helping you and I highly appreciated you helping me! I could count on you and you’d always give me great advice.
“You are an inspiration and your light will continue to shine in all of our hearts.
“Can’t believe I’m writing this. You may have lost the battle but you won the war and you’re better in paradise chick💛everyone loves you and misses you and we will never forget you! Please look over your family at this time.

Her heartbroken father Andre last night paid tribute to the “inspirational brave and talented young lady” that his daughter was.
“A lot of you have been on this journey with us for four and half years and been inspired, laughed and now shed a tear as the most amazing, inspirational, brave and talented young lady is shining amongst the stars tonight,” he said.
“She has left an indelible mark on many lives, changed lives and enriched people’s hearts all over the world. We as a family took strength from all messages of support, cards, gifts and Facebook posts shared throughout our journey. Thank you all.”

She received thousands of well wishes from all over the world after putting out an appeal through the Belfast Telegraph to help her break the world record for receiving birthday cards.
Alexandra’s funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised.
