POLICE have responded to reports of drivers speeding and jumping red lights in Derry.
But despite a police operation, no one was caught but police noted a number of people “flashing their lights” at oncoming drivers to warn of the PSNI speed detection presence.
PSNI Foyle say on their Facebook page: “You said people speed through Maghermason and Newbuildings, that they run through red lights and don’t stop for pedestrians at the zebra crossing.
“So Waterside NPT did a speed op. No detections, everyone was suspiciously well under the speed limit.
“Maybe that’s something to do with drivers flashing their lights at motorists approaching our point.
“If you do wish to flash your lights at motorists to warn them, please remember this offence code: N160.
“It might speed the issue of your ticket along for the unlawful use of your headlights.
“In the wise words of the terminator, “I’ll be back”.
