MAYOR of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh hosted a special ‘Vintage Tea Dance’ at the Alley Theatre in Strabane on Saturday, January 20.This was the first time that one of the Mayor’s tea dances – which are popular ‘free’ events in Derry – was held outside of the city in a bid to encourage older people throughout the district to attend.
Music at the Vintage Tea Dance was by ‘The 3 J’s’ and a free bus was also provided from Derry to the Alley Theatre.
Mayor McHugh said the Vintage Tea Dance was “a hugely enjoyable experience” and that he hopes it will be the first of many for the Alley Theatre in Strabane.
