POLICE APPEAL AFTER TWO MEN VICIOUSLY ASSAULTED IN DERRY

Police at Strand Road police station appeal after two men assaulted in the Carnhill area of the city

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a serious assault in the Carnhill area of Derry this afternoon (Saturday, January 27). 

Two were were attacked in a house in the city and were later taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment.

Three people have since been arrested and taken to the PACE custody suite at Strand Road police station for questioning.

Detective Sergeant Brian Reid said “Shortly after 1:45 pm it was reported that a man in his 20s and another in his 40s had been assaulted at a property in the city.

“Both have since been taken to hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

“Police have since arrested two men and a woman in relation to this incident on suspicion of GBH with intent. 

“Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 705 27/01/18.

“Or, alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
