Councillor Patricia Logue said “Sinn Féin discussed with the RCEM the ongoing pressures being faced in Emergency Departments across the north.
“Doctors and nurses, along with other Health and Social Care staff, continue to deliver high standards of care in these challenging circumstances.
“While seasonal factors such as increased instances of flu have contributed to some of the pressures being faced by emergency departments, the main issues are due to existing challenges facing the health and social care system.
“Transformation of the service as envisaged in Michelle O’Neill’s Health and Wellbeing 2026 Delivering Together, is needed to address the underlying cause of these pressures.”
