THE North West Greenway Network was officially launched at An Grianán Hotel in Burt, Co. Donegal today, Monday, February 26.
The network is funded by the EU’s INTERREG VA Programme.
It has secured approximately €18.5 million in funding for new cross-border greenway projects between Donegal and Derry that will open up new sustainable travel routes for both cyclists and pedestrians.
This network will see the creation of 46.5km of new greenways through three distinct routes connecting Donegal to Derry and Strabane.
Cathaoirleach of Donegal Co. Council, Cllr Gerry McMonagle along with Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh, and Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Shane Ross were in attendance along with representatives from both councils.
