The Vauxhall Cavalier car being taken away

MEMBERS of the Galliagh community assisted police in identifying “death drivers” who narrowly missed mother and child in their car in Bloomfield Park.

The incident happened yesterday and the car was later taken away by police on a tow truck.

It has again highlighted the dangers of stolen cars being driven around the city thieves under the influence of drink or drugs.

Galliagh Community Empowerment say on its Facebook page: “We have been contacted about a car being driven dangerously and almost colliding with other cars.

“The two occupants where described as being drunk they then parked up in bloomfield.

“This car could be stolen so we will allow the reg to be shown so an owner can be found.”

A woman later posted that the car also narrowly missed a member of her family.

She posted: “This car narrowly missed a family member of mine by a split second as he was crossing at the lights near roundabout going into bracken park, the car had to swerve around the car that had stopped for red light.”
