SO far, Derry has managed to avoid the worst of the ‘Beast from the East’ weather front.
The wind chill factor is making it feel a lot colder with temparatutes down to -5.
The Met Office are warning Derry and the North West will see some snow later today.
Forecasters are advising that the weather can change quickly because of the prevailing winds.
Despite the cold weather, City of Derry Airport is open and flights are currently operating to schedule despite the adverse weather conditions across NI and UK. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for updates.
Derry also escaped the worst of the blizzard like snow conditions which have engulfed areas such as Down and Armagh.
The Glenshane Pass remains open.
Police are advising motorists to drive with care on the roads.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Please remember to slow down, use adequate lights, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and be as careful as possible if you are driving in the difficult conditions today.”
