COUNCILLOR Colly Kelly has stressed the importance of reading in the early years of a child’s life.
Speaking on World Book Day the local Education spokesperson said:
“World Book Day provides an excellent opportunity for all of us to raise the awareness of the importance of reading in a child’s development and in expanding their horizons.
“Young children are naturally inquisitive and have a thirst for knowledge from a young age. It is essential that all of us, whether we are parents, carers, teachers, must all be involved in ensuring children have access to books.
“Events such as World Book Day can play an important role in involving schools and parents and carers to use books in a fun and interactive way.”
