POLICE have launched an investigation after a man died following an overnight attack at a house in Derry.
One man is currently under arrest for questioning over the incident in the Rosemount area of the city.
Police attended the scene after receiving a report of an assault at a house in Grafton Street on Saturday night.
The area around the house has been cordoned off for a finger-tip forensic examination.
SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has expressed his “deepest sympathies” to the family of the victim.
Mr Durkan said: “‘A family were woken up to devastating news today.
“My heart goes out to them – our thoughts and prayers all with them all.
“Anyone who knows anything about this incident should pass on the information to the police.”
Police inquiries into the assault are ongoing.
There are no further details at present.
