SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has described as ‘reckless’ the burning of a car on the outskirts of Ballymagroarty earlier today.
Cllr. McGinley said: “A car was driven through fencing enclosing waste ground adjacent to the Branch Road and then set alight.
“This type of reckless criminality is completely unacceptable.
“It threatens the lives of those involved as well as passersby who may have been in the vicinity of the incident.
“Those involved are a danger to our community and should be held to account for their actions,” he added.
Ballymagroarty Comunity Empowerment posted pictures on its Facebook page of the burned out car and the damage to the fencing, adding: “This is the last thing people want to wake up to and see in our area.”
