MAYOR of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh is pictured with members of the Peace in the Park Youth Forum at St Columb’s Park House on Thursday night ahead of the gaming night which was coordinated and delivered by the Peace in the Park Youth Forum.
Mayor McHugh said: “It is great to see young people taking a leading role in the coordination of local events and activities for people their own age.
“The group have demonstrated great leadership & organisational skills and I am delighted that funding has been made available to ensure that their vision becomes a reality.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the community and voluntary sector throughout the city and district who have been involved in – and fully embrace – the hugely successful ‘Game On’ initiative.”
The programme of events for the Mayoral ‘Game On’ initiative will continue over the coming weeks at The Bog Park in Sion Mills on Wednesday 11th April from 6:30-8:30pm and at Hollybush PS in Culmore on 21st April 2018 from 6:30-8:30pm.
From the initial engagement events tailored programmes will be developed within each area in partnership with community and voluntary sector representatives.
