DETECTIVES have launched an arson investigation and are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a house in the Fern Park area of Derry in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, April 7.
Police received a report of the fire at around 2am. Police and NIFRS attended and discovered a wheelie bin on fire at the rear of the property.
The fire caused significant damage to the back door of the property.
The male occupant was not injured as a result of the incident.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are treating this as arson and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference 144 07/04/18.
